London small businesses ask for more support



London small business groups Guardians of the Arches and East End Trades Guild have asked Chancellor Rishi Sunak to extend government support to spare hundreds of companies from going under in the next couple of weeks. The government’s various aid schemes are based on the rateable value of a firm’s premises, but higher London prices mean many small firms are not eligible. Mr Sunak has been urged to introduce a system of London weighting.
